Latest Newsletter from Grosvenor House
Grosvenor House Practice Newsletter - June 2025
Dear Valued Clients,
My sincere apologies for the delay in getting this newsletter out to you. We've been incredibly busy
recently, and a lot of exciting developments have been unfolding here at Grosvenor House!
Firstly, a huge thank you to all of you wonderful clients. We genuinely have a team dedicated to
helping you, and your regular feedback and consistent referrals of new clients are deeply
appreciated!
Our Growth and Dedication to Client Care
Over the past 12-18 months, our business has grown significantly. Our service proposition,
centered on clear communication and a desire to speak with our clients, continues to set us apart
from competitors who seem to be increasingly distant from their clients.
More clients mean more people, and the Grosvenor House team has expanded to the point where
we're even having another office re-jig to comfortably fit everyone in!
Meet Your Grosvenor House Team
To ensure you know who to contact, here's a quick reintroduction to our team:
● Sarah Locke - sarah@ghpl.co.uk
Sarah handles year-end reminder letters and essential onboarding items like ID verification.
She manages the administrative side of the office and is your first point of contact if you're
unsure where to direct your query. Sarah has developed systems and brought organisation
to our business which we are very grateful for.
● Claire Whittaker - claire@ghpl.co.uk
Claire has returned from maternity leave after welcoming little Denis last year. Many of you
will remember Claire from her previous full-time role; she now supports the directors and
team with her usual helpful approach, albeit with slightly fewer hours.
● Kim Matthews - kim@ghpl.co.uk
Kim has been an invaluable member of the team for many years. She continues to be our
Xero trainer, manages VAT and bookkeeping work, and adeptly fills any necessary gaps.
Many clients have found her incredibly helpful with migrating to Xero due to her practical
approach.
● Siobhan Kelly - siobhan@ghpl.co.uk
Siobhan joined us last year, just in time for the traditionally quieter January period! She has
integrated brilliantly with the team, and we all feel like she's been here much longer.
Siobhan is a kind and helpful person who will always strive to solve a problem for a client if
she can.
● Murray Thorn - Murray@ghpl.co.uk
Murray continues to be our 'Mr Payroll.' He handles all payroll processing, payslip provision,
and the filing of payrolls and P11Ds you require. I've known and worked with Murray for
over 20 years and have never known him to miss a payroll deadline, which speaks
volumes!
● Jen Thomson - jen@ghpl.co.uk
Jen has been with us for just over a year now and has been, quite honestly, a revelation.
She has helped maintain Dan and my sanity by hitting the ground running, working with us
to improve systems, and ultimately taking on the baton of client care and management. We
feel very fortunate to have found her. Jen has already taken on a more senior role in the
business, and many of you will have already met her.
● Tim Brown - tim@ghpl.co.uk
Yes, I'm still here! I'm enjoying working with my clients and helping to find solutions more
than ever. Many clients come to us needing significant help re-mapping their systems and
seeking solutions that my experience is well-suited to provide, so they might need me for a
few more years yet!
● Dan Whittaker - dan@ghpl.co.uk
And so is Dan! Dan is my fellow director, and together we have built the business on the
foundation of proper, straightforward, honest advice. Dan has developed strong
relationships with many of you, and we share an ethos of looking after our clients and
providing helpful solutions.
Following this period of massive growth, we believe we have assembled a team perfectly
positioned to look after your needs. As we approach our busy period, we are looking to recruit
again, but we are fiercely protective of our approach to client care, and this will always feature
heavily in our recruitment policy.
Upcoming Changes and Important Reminders
Here's a quick note on some important items coming your way over the next year or so:
Year-End Reminder Letters
You will have been receiving these communications around your year-end date. These are purely
to help you remember to consider stock takes, monies due but not yet invoiced, and accrued
expenses. It's simply much easier for you to address these matters at the time, rather than six
months later!
Early Tax Return Submissions
We have also encouraged as many of you as possible to send your tax return information early to
avoid a last-minute scramble. Although the deadline is January, we can actually file personal tax
returns from April in any given tax year. There's no reason not to get these done promptly, and it
will help you understand your tax liabilities sooner rather than later. We often find that getting it
done earlier can even help reduce your July payment.
Making Tax Digital (MTD) Update
Just in case 'MTD' is on your radar – don't worry, it's on ours too! Very simply put, this is being
introduced from April 2026 for self-employed individuals and landlords with £50,000+ income. We
will monitor each tax return we file this year and let you know if you are likely to be affected.
Companies House Biometric ID Verification
There's also a new requirement coming from Companies House – I'm convinced they add a little
tweak every year! Following the introduction of the corporate company email address requirement
(which we've set up for any clients who needed one), they now wish to move to biometric ID
verification. A couple of clients have already used this and found it to be relatively straightforward,
but please do let us know if you encounter any issues.
I think that's more than enough for now, but hopefully, one of the team members above will prompt
me to send out a newsletter more regularly. Next time, I'll even add a piece from my Grandpa's
book, as I know that's what you all really want!
Best regards, and thank you as ever for all your support
Tim
